    TEXT
  • A Dance Pageant co-written with Wendy Hilton (ECS/Galaxy)
The publication, a collaboration between the composer and the well known baroque dancer and dance historian, the late Wendy Hilton, explains how the movements of 17th and 18th century keyboard suites: the courante, sarabande, minuet, gavotte and gigue were danced in 17th and 18th century palace ballrooms. With knowledge of the step patterns and choreographies of these dances, performers of baroque and renaissance keyboard and instrumental suites should be able to play the individual movements with a greater sense of style and feeling for their dance origins. The text is lavishly illustrated with engravings of the period showing solo and ballroom dancers. The anthology includes 40 keyboard dances by Purcell, Bach, Couperin, Rameau and others.
